New York has emerged as the state that is leading others in their fight against Comcast’s proposed acquisition of Time Warner Cable, reports say.
New York authorities have reportedly threatened to thwart Comcast’s merger plans unless the firms agree to significant concessions to appease competition concerns. States have the authority to review the merger in addition to federal officials that are also investigating the deal.
According to reports, New York has significant leverage to disrupt Comcast’s plans, and some experts say that the cable giants could abandon their merger altogether if New York rejects the deal.
