US: StarKist settles with Kroger over price-fixing

StarKist announced a settlement agreement with a large group of plaintiffs—including Kroger—in the pending antitrust litigation over price fixing in the US canned tuna sector.

This settlement agreement resolves antitrust claims of Kroger and 32 other retailers, that were represented in several consolidated complaints. StarKist, which is owned by South Korea’s Dongwon Enterprise, settled earlier with other plaintiffs including Target, Walmart, and Sam’s.  

“StarKist is pleased to resolve this matter with our valued customers. This settlement, together with prior ones, resolves a substantial number of the company disputes with the direct action plaintiffs,” said Scott Meece, StarKist general counsel, in a statement.
