US: Verisk Analytics turns back on EagleView takeover

Information services firm Verisk Analytics has turned its back on its planned takeover of EagleView Technology Corp after antitrust regulators showed resistance to the deal, according to reports.

    Verisk announced Tuesday that it will no longer pursue the $650 million acquisition originally intended to boost Verisk’s image library.

    But regulators suggested Verisk would obtain too much of the market share for aerial images used by insurance companies. The Federal Trade Commission issued a separate statement suggesting that EagleView is Verisk’s “only meaningful competitor.”

    The companies announced last September that the FTC’s merger review had delayed the transaction.
