Winston & Strawn announced this week that Heather Kafele joined the firm’s Antitrust Practice as partner in the Washington, DC office. Ms. Kafele was previously at Shearman & Sterling.
“The addition of Heather reflects Winston’s ability to attract leading practitioners and grow in key practice areas and markets,” said Tom Fitzgerald, Winston’s managing partner. “Our Antitrust Practice routinely handles the most complex disputes for our clients. Heather’s extensive capabilities complement our existing global practice, particularly in the area of cartel defense and our Washington antitrust footprint.”
“Heather brings superb experience that will further enhance our significant global antitrust practice,” said Jeffrey Kessler, Winston’s co-chairman and chair of the firm’s Antitrust Practice. “She has a long and successful record of advising clients in high-stakes antitrust matters and a reputation among her peers as one of the most knowledgeable practitioners in all aspects of antirust and competition law.”
Ms. Kafele has represented plaintiffs and defendants in a variety of antitrust cases, including monopolization, price-fixing, predatory pricing, bundling, false advertising, unfair competition, and leveraging cases. She has handled worldwide internal investigations of cartel activity, and frequently represents companies and individuals in criminal cartel cases before the Department of Justice. Ms. Kafele also launched Cartel Digest, a website that monitors international cartel enforcement and frequently counsels and speaks on anti-cartel compliance.
