Canada: Bureau gets tough in iPhone pricing probe

Canada’s Competition Bureau has ordered Apple to hand over documents related to its pricing strategies for the iPhone in the nation, according to reports.

    The Bureau’s motion seeking the documents was approved by a court and Apple will now be forced to hand over documents dating back to 2008. Details of the investigation emerged only days ago, revealing the Bureau’s plans to investigate whether Apple abused its market dominance to demand wireless operators sell the iPhone at cheaper costs and ban the operators from selling rival phones at similar discounted prices.

    At the heart of the dispute are certain clauses in Apple contracts with those wireless firms.

    Apple now has 90 days to provide the documents.
