According to Reuters, the CMA has issued an invitation to comment, opening the door for feedback from stakeholders and industry observers about the potential implications of the deal. While this move does not mark the beginning of a formal investigation, it signals the regulator’s preliminary interest in the merger’s effect on competition.

Per Reuters, the CMA emphasized that it has not yet launched a full inquiry but is currently in an information-gathering phase. The agency is tasked with ensuring that mergers and acquisitions within the UK do not result in reduced consumer choice or unfair market dominance.

Both Evri and DHL are among the largest parcel and logistics service providers operating in the UK, and their proposed merger has drawn attention due to the significant market share the combined entity could command. The CMA’s early engagement reflects concerns that such a deal, if approved without intervention, might lead to a “substantial lessening of competition” within the industry.

This initial consultation period allows third parties to submit observations or evidence that might influence the CMA’s decision on whether to proceed to a deeper investigation.

As of now, no formal ruling or timeline for further action has been announced.
