Spain: Regulator looks into immunosuppressant drug sector

The CNMC of Spain has announced it is investigating possible anti-competitive practices in the marketing of medicines for the treatment of various autoimmune diseases, performing a surprise dawn raid in the facilities of a laboratory dedicated to the manufacture of these treatments.

    The suspicion of presumed monopolistic practices, consisting of an abuse of dominance, would have been conducted through a strategy of limiting the supply of said medications, affecting health services and hospitals throughout the Spanish territory.

    The investigation remains at a preliminary stage, awaiting the results of the inspection carried out on April 23 and 24 . If the abuse is confirmed, the company could face sanctions of up to 10% of their total business volume.
