The price of 17.57 euros per month established by Telefónica to access its fiber network for competitors has passed the last test of replicability carried out by the National Commission of Markets and Competition (CNMC). In the event that a product of Telefónica had not passed the test, the company would have to reduce its prices to allow its competitors to offer similar services.
The telecommunications company has informed the Competition Authority that it wants to maintain the current prices, so that the current ones will not change until the next revision of the parameters. The wholesale regulation of the broadband markets, approved in February 2016, imposed on Telefónica the obligation to provide wholesale service throughout Spain.
Every six months, the CNMC carries out the so-called replicability tests, in order to verify that Telefónica complies with these conditions in its emblematic products, all of them Fusion type – with packages with mobile services and pay-TV services.
