Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton added former Federal Trade Commission (FTC) lawyer Thomas Dillickrath as a partner for antitrust and competition, reported Bloomberg..
Dillickrath had been deputy chief trial counsel at the FTC’s Bureau of Competition where he litigated cases the Commission brought involving mergers and acquisitions and other business practices which affected consumers.
He was lead trial counsel in the Commission’s successful litigation blocking Wilhelmsen Maritime Services proposed US$400 million acquisition of Drew Marine Group, and Sanford Health’s proposed acquisition of Mid Dakota Clinic on grounds the consolidation would reduce competition for medical services in the greater Bismarck area of North Dakota.
Dillickrath also played significant roles in the agency’s cases against 1-800 Contacts, the largest online retailer of contact lenses which was accused of price fixing and collusion to prevent competition, and in an administrative action brought against three dental products distributors for conspiring to refuse discounts for dental practitioners.
