Mastercard Calls On Consumers To ‘Eat, Engage & Experience’ In Support Of Stand Up To Cancer

Mastercard is seeking to up its total donations to Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) to $60 million with the help of its cardholders in a new 60 million-person Stand Up initiative, in which Mastercard will donate to SU2C for every purchase cardholders make on select transactions.

The firm has contributed over $55 million to SU2C to date during the last 11 years. It aims to increase its overall funding for the program to $60+ million in 2021, according to a Wednesday (June 30) announcement.

To that end, Mastercard is calling on customers to Eat, Engage & Experience to “take their stand” and help further contributions – in addition to increase awareness for SU2C and its cancer research.

Mastercard will make a one-cent contribution to SU2C for all online or contactless transactions made and reported at eligible eateries and grocery stores up to $5 million.

Moreover, cardholders can take part in digital and in-person Priceless experiences, with all of the purchase amounts contributed to SU2C to help fund cancer research.

The Mastercard Ballpark Sensory Experience, Priceless Table and Digital Stand Up To Cancer Placard are among the experiences.

“At Mastercard we remain committed to supporting Stand Up To Cancer and their mission to help make everyone who is diagnosed with cancer a survivor,” Cheryl Guerin, EVP of Marketing & Communications in North America for Mastercard, said in the announcement. “With our new Eat, Engage & Experience program, we are providing consumers three simple ways to support a powerful cause. Through these actions, cardholders are helping continue to drive donations and further the impact of SU2C in the cancer community.”

Cardholders can also make their own contributions directly to SU2C or create recurring contributions via Mastercard Donate.

“This year nearly 1.9 million Americans will be diagnosed with cancer,” Stand Up To Cancer cofounder Rusty Robertson said in the announcement. “That is a heartbreaking number and is why it is so critical that we stand together to ensure all cancer patients benefit equally from advances in research and treatment. We are tremendously grateful to Mastercard and its cardholders for their continued support of our efforts to bring an end to this terrible disease. We will not stop until we make every cancer patient a long-term survivor.”
