Online Shopping Continues To Grow In France

Mediametrie has registered a 4% increased in France’s online shoppers in the second quarter of 2012, bringing the number of French online shoppers to 31.7 million. Mediametrie has also registered an increase in older shoppers with an 11% increase in 50-64 year old e-consumers as well as an 8% increase for the over 65s.

    In a recent survey IFOP/Generix have also uncovered that the French are increasingly using shops as showrooms to check products before buying them online.

    This news was accompanied by Yahoo’s announcement that France’s favorite retailer is Amazon. This is the first time that a non-physical retailer surpasses physical shops in the race for the country’s favorite retailer. Included in the list of France’s favorite retailers are now several e-retailers, a big change from previous years.
