Alipay, the China-based online payment services provider founded by eCommerce giant Alibaba, is ending its offline point-of-sale (POS) payment service, Global Times reported on August 27.
Alibaba offered a short statement, but did not elaborate on the reasons for the move. The media outlet noted that the announcement has “triggered heated discussion online.”
