Wix and Stripe Partnership Introduces Tap to Pay on Android

Wix

Wix, a global software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for managing an online presence, has partnered with payment processing platform Stripe to introduce Tap to Pay on Android.

This new feature allows U.S.-based merchants to process payments using their Android devices as point-of-sale (POS) terminals, the companies said in a Tuesday (Sept. 12) press release. This development aims to enhance in-person commerce by providing a secure and convenient payment solution.

The launch of Tap to Pay on Android comes about six months after Wix and Stripe partnered to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone.

With Tap to Pay on Android, Wix merchants can now accept contactless payments directly from their Android devices, eliminating the need for additional hardware, according to the Wix press release. This feature is available to Wix users who process payments with Wix Payments, offering them a simple and efficient way to accept in-person payments.

The Wix Owner App transforms any compatible Android device into a POS terminal, enabling merchants to conduct in-person commerce anytime and anywhere, the release said. By leveraging Wix’s secure POS software, merchants can provide customers with a seamless and contactless checkout experience. Customers can use credit cards, debit cards, Google Pay and other digital wallets to complete their purchases.

Stripe’s Tap to Pay on Android has already facilitated contactless payments for millions of businesses globally, per the release. The extended partnership with Wix now allows even more entrepreneurs to accept payments in a cost-effective and no-code manner, empowering small businesses and merchants.

Tap to Pay on Android is currently available to U.S.-based Wix Payments merchants utilizing Wix for eCommerce, bookings and events solutions, according to the press release.

This new feature further enhances Wix’s comprehensive platform, the release said. Wix provides users with a wide range of commerce and business solutions, advanced SEO and marketing tools, and full ownership of their brand, data and customer relationships.
