Tillerman Launches Tool That Streamlines Gaining Insights From POS Data

Tillerman has launched a tool that makes it easier to use point-of-sale (POS) data.

Designed for retail brands and wholesalers, the new Tillerman Insight provides an interactive and visual dashboard that facilitates drilling down and gaining insights from the data, the provider of retail technology and data analytics said in a Thursday (April 6) press release.

“Insight has been a game-changer for our clients in terms of being able to get answers to business questions immediately and then using that information to make actionable business decisions,” Tillerman Managing Partner Chris Borduas said in the release.

Tillerman Insight captures the POS data from both traditional and eCommerce retailers, delivers it to brands and wholesalers through an interface that makes the data easier to understand, and can be customized to report on trending categories, best- or worst-selling products, inventory management and other business results, according to the press release.

These features help brands and wholesalers streamline the process of culling through POS data and reporting on the results.

“Because our dashboards are customized to exactly what each brand needs in their own language, Insight provides more interaction so that our clients can use the tool to find opportunities and collaborate in ways that are not possible with traditional reporting,” Borduas said.

POS data is used by companies in a number of ways.

For example, business intelligence company Overproof offers a tool that gives bars and restaurants the option to monetize their POS data and add more insights for suppliers.

With this BarInsights tool, bars and restaurants can enroll, upload their menus and set pricing for the performance insights related to the items on the menu.

In another example of the use of POS data, U.S. Bank subsidiary Elavon offers a POS platform for small businesses that handles both payments and businesses’ analytics.

The talech platform is available in two bundles, with one for restaurants and one for retail businesses.

“The talech platform really is about making it easier for small business owners to get the information they need to make better decisions, especially in a rapidly changing economy,” Elavon CEO Jamie Walker said when announcing the product.
