In this exclusive NEXTcast interview, David S. Evans sits down with one of the leading writers and thinkers in payments, Stuart Weiner- a speaker at ETA’s Strategic Leadership Forum. The former director of Payments System Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City discusses Durbin’s impact on Visa and MasterCard’s business models and why the Fed has a more challenging prospect than other central banks.

        


 

Executive Bio: Stuart Weiner, former Vice President and Director of Payments System Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City

Stuart E. Weiner is the former Vice President and Director of Payments System Research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City. He currently serves as a payments consultant, focusing on regulatory and public policy issues as well as payment card, ACH, and mobile payment developments. He also is a member of the Finance Department faculty at Kansas State University. He has served as a technical expert for the International Monetary Fund and has collaborated on projects with a number of other central banks. Mr. Weiner has published articles and books in several subject areas, including payment systems, monetary policy, and financial markets. He holds a B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Cornell University and a Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University.
