Elizabeth Warren and payments experts, including Market Platform Dynamics Founder David Evans, testified at a House hearing Tuesday that examined the role of the nascent Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
Warren deflected intense scrutiny from GOP lawmakers regarding her performance in setting up the agency as well as her personal character. Evans, meanwhile, expressed his concern that the CFPB could make it harder and more expensive for consumers to borrow money. Todd Zywicki (Foundation Professor of Law, George Mason University), Adam Levitin (Associate Professor of Law, Georgetown University Law Center) and Andrew Pincus (Partner, Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw LLP) also shared their views.
