Fancy Has A Tenth of Pinterest’s Size ― Though Possibly A Better Commerce Model

There are ten Pinterest users for every individual on Fancy, a competing content-sharing site run by founder Joe Einhorn. But some say the latter has the superior business model.

It’s easy to see why: users can actually buy products directly through Fancy, at which point Einhorn’s company receives 10 percent of the money spent on the purchase. “We’re a straight shopping utility,” Einhorn told Adweek in a recent interview.

“A year from now, we want to be thought of by consumers the way they think of Amazon, but we want to even be better,” Einhorn added.
