Interac Helps Conduct First NFC Mobile Debit Transaction In Canada

Interac has helped to facilitate the first NFC mobile debit transaction in Canada, according to ATM Marketplace.

McDonald’s Restaurants of Canada served as the participating merchant for the transaction, while RBC Royal bank served as the FI, Moneris Solutions served as service provider and Blackberry as the participating mobile devise.

The transaction took place using an Interac Flash POS terminal and an NFC-enabled BlackBerry. As ATM Marketplace pointed out, no deadline has been given for when the Interac Flash app will become available for iPhone or Android devices.
