HotelPlanner and ZentrumHub have teamed up to deliver an API solution for the travel industry.

HotelPlanner, a London-based TravelTech firm, said in a Tuesday (Jan. 3) press release that it will use ZentrumHub’s application programming interface (API) platform to connect its booking engine to hotels worldwide.

“ZentrumHub’s single API connection will help us connect more efficiently and broadly with hotel suppliers as we continue to expand HotelPlanner’s footprint globally,” Tim Hentschel, the co-founder and CEO at HotelPlanner, said in the release.

“ZentrumHub can handle any amount of traffic and also deploys powerful streaming of data search results, room mapping, and standardization of hotel room amenities,” Hentschel added.

As PYMNTS has reported, toward the end of 2022, European technology firms looking to shake up the travel and hospitality space experienced a flurry of investor interest, with companies such as Mews and Hotel Manager raking in multi-million dollar funding rounds.

Both companies are software developers that help hotel operators manage their internal operations and build connected customer-facing apps and services.

But in 2023, connecting to potential customers is about so much more than hotels’ websites and booking platforms.

Third-party hotel-booking services like HotelPlanner can be an essential revenue stream for hotels, cementing the importance of technology providers like ZentrumHub in the modern hospitality business.

Founded in India in 2021, ZentrumHub has developed a platform that enables companies to connect to digital booking platforms like Expedia, Web Beds and Agoda, accelerating the time it takes to set up a travel business as it removes the need to interface with each API individually.

At present, the company says it is connected to 45 suppliers and powers bookings for 25 clients.

While companies like HotelPlanner, which has a focus on group bookings, may turn to ZentrumHub to enable their connections to hotels, other firms prefer to do things the old-fashioned way.

For example, in the luxury travel sector, Le Collectionist offers a more curated selection of rental vacation opportunities to customers by pursuing a model built on relationships with property owners.
