Fiserv, Caixa Debut Card-Based Payments Service

Caixa-branded point-of-sale (POS) terminals will now be available in Brazil through an agreement with Fiserv, according to a press release. They’ll be available at all 4,300 Caixa branches.

Businesses can take payments from debit or credit cards or vouchers, along with QR codes, such as payments made with the Caixa Tem app, the release stated.

“The national expansion of our partnership with Caixa underscores the important role Brazil can play in driving the adoption of digital payments in the Latin America region,” said Fiserv Head of Latin America Gustavo Marin in the release. “Digital payments can bring significant benefits of efficiency, security and ease-of-use to businesses and consumers, and making these benefits available through the expansive Caixa customer base has the potential to transform how people pay in Brazil.”

The POS terminals will allow Brazilian businesses to sell more securely, manage their business from their mobile phones and access credit from anticipated sales, the release stated.

“We are committed to popularizing the early availability of receivables, an important resource for millions of small and medium-sized businesses that can access the value of anticipated sales at a competitive cost,” said Fiserv Head of Brazil Edson Nassar in the release.

In June, Fiserv hired or promoted three executives.
