Shop On eBay With Bitcoins, ‘Very Soon’

Bitcoin is all set to become a mainstream digital currency with ebay and PayPal working on incorporating it into their online payment system.

“I think there’s no doubt digital currency is going to play an important role going forward, and at PayPal, we’re going to have to integrate digital currencies into our wallet,” said eBay CEO John Donohue in an interview with CNBC.

Though Donhue didn’t mention a start date, he said that the digital currency would slowly be integrated into eBay and PayPal services. The initial integration would be at peer-to-peer and international transactions level to facilitate merchants, according to International Business Times.

“I don’t know how big it will get, how quickly, but I do think the underlying theme is [that] a digital currency is something we’re aware of and something we’re going to pay attention to,” said Donohoe who owns bitcoins himself.

Dish Network Corp is now also accepting the currency, which is being tracked by the Bloomberg terminal starting last week, for payments.
