American Express and Best Buy announced yesterday (July 30) a new eCommerce technology that allows Amex's U.S. card members in its rewards program to use points to shop on BestBuy.com.
The new rewards program is now in effect and allows Amex card members to use their Membership Rewards points toward all or part of purchases. Those customers can choose to pick the items up in-store of have them delivered.
"Our Card Members love shopping at Best Buy and we wanted to provide them with more value, choice and flexibility each time they check out," said Leslie Berland, executive vice president, Global Brand, Marketing & Digital Partnerships at American Express. "We worked closely with Best Buy to integrate this seamless experience that further enhances the utility of our world-class Membership Rewards program in a powerful, new way."
Amex's technology also allows the rewards members to check their point balances while shopping on Best Buy before checking out to ensure they can use rewards points when desired. The coordination between Amex and Best Buy also allows for customers to seamlessly apply rewards without having to leave the site or apply special codes during checkout.
Card Members will see their points balance updated within 2-4 business days in their Membership Rewards program account.
