Online wholesale marketplace Faire has rolled out in Australia to independent brands and merchants, the platform’s first move outside of North America and Europe, according to a press release Wednesday (April 27).

Faire links 450,000 retailers with 70,000 brands from over 100 countries and has grown to become among the biggest digital wholesale communities worldwide. In Australia, the retail industry employs the second-largest percentage of the working population.

The platform already works with 1,000 brands in Australia, offering an estimated 100,000 products across several categories. After its first week, Faire reported that it had a higher retailer volume for its Australian launch than it did anywhere else. The wholesale marketplace has already rolled out in Canada and 16 of the largest markets across the United Kingdom and Europe, per the release.

“Faire offers small businesses the best inventory, financing, and fulfillment,” said Faire co-founder and CEO Max Rhodes. “Whether their goal is to expand globally or continue focusing on their local strategy, we’re committed to empowering Australian entrepreneurs to build their business the way they want.”

Rhodes added that Australian brands and retailers are among the “most values-driven entrepreneurial communities in the world,” and often struggled to grow into new regions due to overhead and complications.

“Faire provides an amazing and accessible platform and will give small businesses in Australia a chance to grow,” said Verity Kizek, co-founder of Sydney-based artisan home goods brand Saardé, which is stocked in over 400 Faire retailers. “Today we have a retail space and showroom in Sydney, and our products are stocked in Australia, the U.S., and Europe.”

Launched in 2017 and headquartered in Silicon Valley, Faire strives to give small companies necessary tech solutions, including a suite of tools that provide retailers with data insights, payment terms and logistical solutions.
