Dublin-headquartered NomuPay has raised $53.6 million to expand its cross-border payment platform.

NomuPay’s Unified Payments Platform is built for regions seeing high growth in cross-border and eCommerce and currently simplifies payments throughout Southeast Asia, Turkey and Europe, the company said in a Wednesday (May 31) press release.

The platform is designed to solve the challenges global enterprises face when dealing with multiple countries, payment types, payment use cases, channels and regulations, NomuPay CEO Peter Burridge said in the release.

“At NomuPay, we remove the burden of ‘multiples’ by unifying fragmented payment networks,” Burridge said in the release. “In the face of continued technological, market, method and data fragmentation, we provide companies with an ‘all access pass’ to global payments, enabling enterprise to continue to expand globally and to future-proof payment strategies.”

NomuPay’s platform augments companies’ existing payment infrastructure, using a single application programming interface (API) integration to enable omnichannel payments acceptance and pay out disbursements, according to the release.

The platform provides payment solutions that are scalable as well as capabilities around data management and reporting, the release said.

The company’s Series A funding round was led by Finch Capital, and NomuPay will use the new funding to scale the business in its core markets, add new markets and continue to invest in product development, per the release.

“Under the leadership of Peter Burridge, NomuPay has made a series of license acquisitions and top-level hires that have helped to take the company to the next level,” Finch Capital Managing Partner Radboud Vlaar said in the release. “On top of this, the company has built a Unified Payments Platform that unlocks local payment acceptance and payout disbursements in geographies that have long lacked a unified system through a simple and single integration.”

The new funding round comes about six months after NomuPay teamed up with Irish payments software provider Planet to help Southeast Asia’s hospitality industry expand its services.

With NomuPay’s platform, hoteliers in the region can accept cards, bank and eWallet payment options; popular local alternative payment methods (APMs); buy now, pay later (BNPL) options; and installment payment plans.
