Hudson Brings Six New Stores To Virgin Hotels Las Vegas As Travel Rebounds

Hudson, a travel retail company that has stores in places such as commuter hubs and airports, is opening six new stores within Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, according to an announcement.

Hudson Chief Executive Officer Roger Fordyce said that “the timing could not be more perfect as we begin to witness the rebound of travel.”

“As we continue to expand our presence across resort and luxury hotels, we remain committed to delivering retailing options that not only meet guests’ every need but that also go above and beyond to provide a world-class customer experience,” Fordyce said.

5th & Sunset, the upmarket sunglass and accessory store exclusive to Hudson, is among the new store concepts opening at the hotel. Other concepts opening at the property include Chill by Hudson, a sundry shop that provides products such as electronics and over-the-counter medicines, and SWAG, which offers items like local delicacies and branded clothing. The property also includes Hudson, Dunkin’ and Brookstone stores.

Every store comes with “charge to room” capabilities, while some stores will have self-checkout kiosks.

“The opening of Hudson’s collection of retail will provide our resort guests with a convenient and appealing shopping experience while on property,” said Gary Scott, chief operating officer of JC Hospitality LLC, owners of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.

The Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, which is a Curio Collection by Hilton hotel, officially opened its doors to travelers on Thursday (March 25). For its part, Hudson has over 1,000 stores. Beyond places like airports and commuter hubs, Hudson has stores in tourist locations and landmarks.

The news comes amid a rebound in air travel from the depths of the pandemic. The number of Americans flying has topped 1.5 million for the first time in a year per data released by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Monday (March 22).

According to the TSA, 1,543,115 flyers were screened U.S. on Sunday (March 21).
