Casetify Expands and Unveils New Flagship Store in Osaka

Casetify

Casetify, which sells customizable tech accessories like phone and laptop cases, is preparing an expansion initiative, aiming to open 100 stores by 2025.

Casetify’s expansion effort represents a significant leap from its existing 28 locations concentrated in the Asia-Pacific region. Out of the 100 upcoming stores, 20 will be strategically positioned in the United States, while the remaining 80 will be dispersed among various markets worldwide, according to a Thursday (June 22) Modern Retail report.

The company is also introducing a new retail concept by launching a store in Osaka, Japan, this week.

Diverging from Casetify’s current Studio model, where locations for the most part function as customization hubs, the Osaka store will adopt its new Flagship concept, which aims to focus on local aesthetics. In keeping with that concept, the Osaka Flagship store features floor-to-ceiling Japanese lanterns and cylindrical shoji screens curated by architect André Fu.

Founded in 2011, Casetify originally focused on turning people’s Instagram photos into phone cases. The company has since diversified its product offerings to include a broader range of categories such as laptops, AirPods and Apple Watches.

The retailer has been successful in forging partnerships with entities such as the NBA, “Harry Potter” and “Star Wars,” attracting interest from celebrities like Kylie Jenner and Gigi Hadid.

With over 15 million phone cases sold to date, Casetify saw a 140% revenue increase from 2020 to 2022. Its goal is to grow to be a $1 billion company, per the report.

As part of its endeavors, Casetify is transitioning toward an omnichannel approach, encompassing a strategy that incorporates physical retail alongside its already established presence in eCommerce.

Co-founder and CEO Wesley Ng told Modern Retail the company recognizes the value of physical retail locations and said its brick-and-mortar program is important in connecting with consumers.

Casetify Studios allow customers to personally create their products on-site, selecting from a range of designs and color swatches to customize their items.
