Fiserv, the parent company of the Clover point-of-sale (POS) and business management platform, and food delivery company Grubhub on Wednesday (Aug. 25), released a press statement announcing the integration of the companies’ platforms to help thousands of independent restaurants better fulfill online orders.

Clover Online Ordering lets restaurant owners monitor everything from menu updates to online order management. Restaurants that use Clover and partner with Grubhub can bring their operations into the Clover platform due to this integration, allowing streamlined digital orders through menu synchronization, order submissions and more.

Clover customers who are not Grubhub partners can still register for Grubhub pickup and delivery as part of a free trial, opening their fare up to more than 33 million diners across the United States.

“We know that simplifying ordering operations is top of mind for our restaurant partners, and with the Clover integration, restaurateurs can have peace of mind knowing all of their orders are going to one place — negating the need for multiple tablets and having to manually input orders,” said Theresa Dold, vice president of restaurant product at Grubhub, in the joint announcement.

“Integrating Clover and Grubhub makes management of delivery orders much easier for restaurants, enabling them to reach more customers while operating more efficiently,” said Ellen Linardi, senior vice president of product and design at Clover.

“This is the first of multiple delivery options that will be accessible to restaurants via the Clover platform, providing a practical way for restaurants to meet customers’ growing appetite for food delivery,” Linardi said.

The percentage of consumers who have ordered restaurant delivery services through a mobile phone or computer jumped from 8 percent in 2019 to 21 percent in 2021, according to the Mercator Advisory Group’s U.S. 2021 Buyers PaymentsInsights survey.

On-demand restaurant commerce platform Olo announced earlier this month it has added Grubhub as a partner for Rails, the company’s aggregator and channel management solution. The delivery service joined existing Rails partners DoorDash, Uber Eats, Postmates, Seamless and Caviar.

Chief Executive Officer of Olo Noah Glass told analysts the partnership with Grubhub fulfills Olo’s “promise to serve as a common carrier,” working with all major U.S. aggregators among smaller, regional ones.
