EBay Now Is No More

eBay’s brief flirtation with same-day delivery has ended before it really began. The app was pulled this weekend, and so eBay customers will no long be able to shop on their phones and receive items from close-by retailers same-day (for an additional $5 fee).

According to an eBay spokesperson, the eBay Now service is “moving to core.” That means the service will no longer be it’s own application but instead will be folded into eBay’s main mobile app and website.

The company acquired a U.K.-based same-day delivery Shutl in October 2013. By spring 2014, Shutl was put in charge of delivery instead of eBay operating its own fleet of drivers and the company had been planning an expansion in 2015. Additionally, The Home Depot, Target, Macy’s, GNC, Walgreens, Best Buy, Toys R Us, Office Depot, Urban Outfitters, RadioShack and AutoZone had all agreed to participate in the program.
