Bigcommerce Answers Call For More SaaS

The influx of software development and services for businesses has emerged as corporations demand solutions to facilitate their online sales efforts. While Bigcommerce has largely aided businesses looking to move online, its recent announcement demonstrates the need for more diverse SaaS options.

ECommerce platform Bigcommerce announced Thursday (March 12) that its latest partnership was formed in response to the increasing demand for Software-as-a-Service. The company is collaborating with three firms to expand digital commerce services for businesses.

Groove, Indaba Group and The Plum Tree Group will all work with Bigcommerce to offer their unique services and improve several aspects of the eCommerce development process, the companies said. Advertising firm Groove will work to offer marketing SaaS, eCommerce developer Indaba Group will offer business strategy SaaS, and digital design service The Plum Tree Group will develop digital platform creation SaaS.

Together, the new partnerships will allow Bigcommerce to offer a greater variety of SaaS for companies, both B2B and B2C, for firms looking to launch and strengthen their digital sales strategies.

“We’re seeing unprecedented demand in the enterprise space as the eCommerce market continues to grow quickly and more merchants are realizing the benefits of SaaS solutions,” said Bigcommerce co-founder and CEO Eddie Machaalani. “We’re fulfilling this demand by adding upmarket capabilities to our platform, expanding our partner program, and bringing in top-tier enterprise partners with years of experience who are committed to providing the best experience possible for our clients.”

According to the firms, they will develop engineering teams to develop new software for companies that operate online services through Bigcommerce.

The emergence of B2B SaaS has proven crucial to propelling the business world online, experts say. According to Groove CEO and founder Ethan Griffin, the last few decades have shown how beneficial SaaS can be to corporations. “Having been in the business for almost 20 years, I’ve seen firsthand the significant movement of growing and established brands to SaaS platforms compared to more expensive options,” he said, adding that the technology is also expanding and offering more robust solutions.

Today, the technology is more important than ever before, according to Indaba CEO Ryan Shields. “2015 is an important year for online businesses with brands investing in capabilities like personalization, customer loyalty and mobile optimization,” Shields said. “Bigcommerce’s platform eliminates a great deal of the complexity that comes with competitive platforms.”
