The Vietnamese government is calling for a crackdown on cryptocurrency, Reuters reported. Through a directive, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc instructed multiple governmental bodies to double down on the “management of activities related to bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.” The news comes after protests over the weekend claiming that a company had raised money in a “cryptocurrency fraud.”

In Taiwan, the state’s Ministry of Finance is also taking up the issue of crypto regulation, CoinDesk reported. It plans to regulate cryptos under the same anti-money laundering (AML) rules that cover the rest of the finance industry. That news comes as Taiwan’s Central Bank Governor Yang Chin-long said that the body would look closer at cryptocurrency-related risks.

And it appears that the bitcoin bubble may be popping, Bloomberg reported. A team of Bank of America analysts headed up by Michael Hartnett, the bank’s chief investment strategist, said the cryptocurrency’s downfall lines up with other historical asset-price bubbles.

In cryptocurrency exchange news, users of the Ledger wallet haven’t been able to access their bitcoin cash (BCH), CoinDesk reported. In addition, users reportedly can’t make transactions or even look at their balances. The outage reportedly began on Monday (April 9) and users have taken to Reddit to complain.

Bitcoin had a good weekend, rising to the $7,000 level, The Merkle reported. That rise came as billionaire George Soros said that Soros Fund Management would begin making cryptocurrency trades this year. The price of bitcoin was at $6,914.96 at 6:41 p.m., according to CoinDesk.

There’s another controversy around Craig Wright, the “creator” of bitcoin, The Next Web reported. Wright may have included mathematical equations in an academic paper without citations. In response to the claims, Wright called the paper a “draft.”

“We use editing services at nChain,” Wright said in a tweet. “They check this and more before publication. When a paper is not published, well, it is a draft.”
