ACI PayAfter Integrates 70+ BNPL Lenders Merchants Can Offer Shoppers

Real-time digital payment software firm ACI Worldwide launched a new product for merchants that enables them to offer customers payment options that include more than 70 buy now, pay later (BNPL) lenders integrated in a single solution.

ACI PayAfter offers a user interface (UI) that works to boost acceptance rates and appeal to a wider global customer base that is often left behind, increasing sales and meeting shoppers’ needs.

For merchants, ACI PayAfter provides a single application and contract that streamlines the complexity and cost of integration. Getting to market is a fast process, and gaining actionable customer intelligence soon follows.

“With ACI PayAfter, merchants can provide their customers with a more inclusive experience and a wider choice of BNPL options that suit their needs, leading to fewer abandoned carts,” Debbie Guerra, EVP of merchant payments at ACI Worldwide, said in a press release on Tuesday (Feb. 15).

Guerra added that about half of “potential consumers” are kept on the BNPL sidelines even though they’re credit-worthy. She pointed to younger generations who have a disdain for credit cards, and the un- and underbanked.

“ACI’s single interface further democratizes payments by reducing the barriers to access for consumers who aren’t traditionally served by the financial system. A portfolio of more than 70 BNPL providers, which we expect to expand to hundreds of providers, advances the consumer experience through a simpler checkout process and better approval rates, which leads to higher conversion for merchants,” Guerra said.

At checkout, consumers are offered one BNPL option — ACI PayAfter — with a single application and credit check. From there, the customer is matched to the BNPL options that are best suited to their circumstances. Having multiple options increases the chances of approvals and a one-step process sidesteps the annoyance of multiple applications and credit checks, which can lead to shoppers abandoning their carts.
