UATP, Conferma Pay Team To Bring Virtual Payment Cards To Airlines

UATP and Conferma Pay announced on Thursday (Feb. 14) that they have inked a partnership aiming to bring virtual card payment technology to airlines.

According to a press release, the joint solution will make airline payments more secure. Under the deal, UATP’s customers will be able to use virtual payments via a global corporate travel ecosystem. The service is powered by Conferma Pay and is integrated directly at the point of sale into all major global distribution systems, including more than 100 booking tools and 500 travel management companies.

“We look forward to working with Conferma Pay to provide our network members with a more secure, cost-effective way to manage their payments when booking travel,” said Dave Holmes, chief commercial officer, in the press release. “Virtual payments have become increasingly popular in the travel industry, which makes it important to provide these types of solutions for our members. Airlines will benefit from the fact that UATP virtual cards are typically less expensive to accept as payment.”

With virtual payment technology, users get access to a one-time card number along with more data through the airline ticketing lifecycle, the companies said in the press release. That gives the customers more control and boosts efficiency, eliminating the need for manual reconciliation of booking and payment information. Since the process is automatic, UATP and Conferma said it saves hours of back office checking, removes billing issues and makes internal tracking and spend reporting easier for companies. The companies noted that virtual payments are creating a more secure, fraud-proof method for booking and reconciling corporate spending on air travel.
