Aeropay Helps Software Maker Dispense Offer Cashless Cannabis Payments

Cannabis industry payments firm Aeropay has joined forces with Dispense, maker of cannabis eCommerce and dispensary management software.

Integrating Aeropay’s platform with Dispense’s software solves an ongoing problem for cannabis dispensaries that operate in states that have legalized marijuana, as federal laws prevent them from processing traditional card payments, according to a Wednesday (Aug. 24) news release.

With the new agreement, retailers using Dispense can offer cashless payments at checkout, which could increase sales by 25% per transaction, the release stated.

“Dispense is an innovative cannabis eCommerce platform working with retailers across the country, and this newest integration offers businesses simple dispensary management software and SEO tools that will substantially improve ROI,” said Aeropay Founder and CEO Daniel Muller in the release.

Dispense serves dispensaries in California, Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Maine, New Jersey, Florida and Massachusetts — and plans to launch next in Colorado and Oklahoma, according to the release.

The company was co-founded in 2020 by CEO Kyla Sirni and Chief Technology Officer Tim Officer, “who saw an opportunity to adapt their existing Tableist ticketing and reservations technology to help cannabis dispensaries safely schedule and manage customer order pickup,” the release stated.

Aeropay lets customers pay with automated clearing house (ACH) online and in stores by providing simple integration with eCommerce platforms, “state-compliant and secure” payments and application programming interface (API) infrastructure, according to the release.

The news comes one week after Aeropay announced a collaboration with delivery service Flyhi to bring contactless, cashless cannabis delivery payments to customers in Denver.

The partnership includes the integration of Aeropay’s digital payment solutions into Flyhi’s on-demand home delivery service.

Customers who use the Flyhi website can prepay for home delivery orders when they check out, with payments facilitated through secure bank-to-bank transfers, and with the option to pay with Aeropay at checkout, the release stated.
