GoHealth Insurance Marketplace Names New CFO

Health insurance marketplace GoHealth has welcomed Vance Johnston as its new chief financial officer (CFO), the company announced Monday (Dec. 6).

“I am excited about joining GoHealth and the prospects for the Company’s continued growth and success,” Johnston said in a statement. “This is a great company with great people, and I look forward to working with Clint and the rest of the management team to help drive growth and shareholder value.”

The release notes that current CFO Travis Matthiesen will become GoHealth’s chief transformation officer, while also helping Johnston transition into the CFO role.

Johnston has previous experience as a CFO, including at global tech and auto services company IAA, at business services company SP Plus Corporation, and at consumer goods, manufacturing and retail operation Furniture Brands.

“We are very pleased that Vance will be joining the GoHealth executive team as CFO,” said Clint Jones, co-founder and CEO. “Vance’s extensive record of successfully leading organizations as a public company CFO, building great teams and serving as a key member of executive management will be tremendously valuable to the Company as we continue to deliver for our members and drive shareholder value.”

In 2020, GoHealth went public, and in July of that year, PYMNTS reported that the company had seen soaring shares, with the company raising $913 million.

The company beat market expectations, having 43.5 million shares going for $21 a piece, which was higher than the earlier expected range. GoHealth initially thought it would garner around $751 million.

GoHealth was founded in 2001 and was given a boon with the passing of the Affordable Care Act a decade ago. The company has also generated revenue through working on selling Medicare plans to seniors, which has been a robust market as the Baby Boomer generation trends towards retirement.
