Groovv POS Flex Unveiled At NRF’s Big Show

Small and mid-sized businesses are getting another option for point-of-sale (POS) solutions to keep up with the ever-changing, mobile-forward retail world.

This week at the National Retail Federation’s (NRF) 2017 Big Show held at the Javitz Center in New York City, Samsung and Total Merchant Services announced the Groovv POS Flex, which is a POS solution aimed at aiding SMB merchants. The Groovv POS Flex works with a Samsung Galaxy Tab E 9.6” Tablet, while also being EMV-compliant, NFC-enabled and hooked to Samsung Pay (and other methods) for payment processing. The device and platform also includes specialty software for merchants to keep track of inventory and other data for reports.

According to a release, the system is easily set up and ready to use minutes after opening the package. In fact, the release says the software is “stress-free” and has an “intuitive interface” along with a touchscreen navigation. However, if the merchant requires help with setup, Total Merchant Services offers that service as well.

“The solution we’ve created with Groovv POS Flex gives our SMB customers an innovative, customized mobile and payment processing–ready system that fits seamlessly into their business,” said Ted Brodheim, vice president of Vertical Business at Samsung Electronics America, in the release.

Samsung says the new technology is deliberately aimed at being an alternative to countertop devices, as it is capable of being used also as an associate walks around a retail location. The detachable tablet connects with a variety of payment devices – such as a receipt printer or barcode scanner – and comes with a moveable stand if it needs to be set down. The goal is for the device to be malleable to the needs of the merchant as well as improve sales and customer happiness.

“Our versatile Groovv POS Flex system is a great fit for a diverse segment of independent retailers and other SMBs,” said Joe Kaplan, CEO of Total Merchant Services.

The partnership of Samsung and Total Merchant Services touts that the Groovv device has a variety of other features that will make it stand out among other POS options. Beyond its EMV compliance and NFC-enabled capabilities, the software is slated to be helpful to monitor data such as sales history and sales trends of a product and work with related marketing tools such as loyalty programs and other customer engagement options.

The Groovv POS Flex is currently available directly through Total Merchant Services, as well as through some of the company’s sales partners.
