Credit Card App Ranking Squeezes 13 Apps Into the Top 10

Like the credit card charges that stack up while traveling on a summer vacation, there are a lot of apps squeezed into this month’s edition of PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Credit Card Apps.

Where last month there were just 10 apps in the top 10, this time there are 13.

That’s been made possible by three different tie scores, which have left some spaces available for additional apps to join this elite group of highly ranked apps.

There’s been no movement at the top, however, as those that were ranked first, second and third last month are still holding those positions.

Now, let’s take a closer look at the numbers.

The Top 5

Retaining its place at the top of the list is Capital One Mobile. This month, it has a score of 99.

Five points behind is the runner-up, Chase Mobile, with a score of 94.

Still running third is Bank of America Mobile Banking, this time with a score of 89.

In this month’s first change of position, Discover Mobile has moved up one level and now shares the No. 4 spot with Wells Fargo Mobile, which was here last month. Each has earned a score of 86.

There’s another tie at No. 5, with American Express having gained one position since last time and Credit One Bank Mobile having picked up two. Each has achieved a score of 78.

The Top 10

After a 23-point gap in the field, there’s the sixth-place contender. PREMIER Credit Card has moved up two spots from last time with a score of 55.

Just one point behind that is Tally. With a score of 54, this app has entered the top 10 at No. 7. Because it has tallied up a score that is 10 points higher than last time, it’s also this month’s biggest mover and shaker.

Two points behind that, in eighth place, we have another tie. MySynchrony has advanced one spot since last time, while Cards — Mobile Wallet has moved up two. Each has earned a score of 52.

At No. 9, Barclays US has joined the top 10 with a score of 47. As that score is four points higher than last time, this app is another mover and shaker.

One point behind that with a score of 46 — three points higher than the one it earned last month — is Mission Lane. This app is another newcomer to the top 10 and it closes out this month’s edition of the Provider Ranking of Credit Card Apps.
