Provider Ranking of Travel Apps Firms Up as Summer Bookings Get Serious

As peak summer travel season rapidly approaches, patterns are forming in PYMNTS’ Provider Ranking of Travel Apps with fewer tied scores and many apps holding their positions month over month.

That means more loyalty to certain apps that have risen in the rankings as they dominate downloads and the bookings that result.

The Top 5

The three-way tie at No. 1 continues into its fourth month as Airbnb, Booking.com, and Hopper all compete for our booking dollars.

Firmly at No. 2 is Vrbo, the original home-sharing app.

Still locked in at No. 3 we have Hotels.com and Skyscanner, finding deals on flights and the hotels we need when we reach our destination.

Kiwi.com is the not-so-little booking engine that could, steady again at No. 4.

Closing out the Top 5 once again it’s KAYAK and the powerful ability to scan dozens of travel sites for deals.

The Top 10

TripAdvisor is ironically not going anywhere, at least in terms of this ranking, holding at No. 6.

Same deal for the airport lounge access app PriorityPass, comfortable in its No. 7 chart position.

Now comes a series of changes in a ranking that’s changed little in recent months.

Up one spot to No. 8 is the Viator Tours & Activities app.

Dropping one chart position to No. 9 this month is ranking regular FlightAware.

We go out on a two-way tie, where both AllTrails and Hostelworld.com fall one spot to eye each other in the No. 10 chart position.

Happy trails, summer travelers.
