U.S. Comptroller of the Currency Thomas Curry, who oversees an independent bureau within the Department of the Treasury, has indicated that the U.S. faces a growing threat from cyberattacks, Salon reported on September 18.
“The growing sophistication and frequency of cyberattacks is a cause for concern, not only because of the potential for disruption, but also because of the potential for destruction of the systems and information that support our banks,” Curry said.
The remarks come in response to the wave of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on major bank websites.
