Cloud POS Platform KWI Adopts Apple Pay

Specialty retail sector POS provider KWI has jumped on the Apple Pay bandwagon with its announcement Monday (Jan. 12) that its Cloud 9 Mobile platform will now work with Apple’s new mobile wallet technology.

KWI, which offers cloud-based solutions in merchandising and POS for independent retailers, will now accept Apple Pay through its Cloud 9 Mobile app. The platform currently supports cash, credit, gift cards, and offers cash management solutions, employee and staffing solutions, inventory and other services for retail owners.

The addition of Apple Pay in KWI’s list of supported capabilities follows the company’s acquisition of source code and patent licenses from Verifone one year ago. KWI Founder and CEO Sam Kliger says these recent advancements prove the company is ahead of the curve in mobile payments technologies.

“Our ability to stay on top of new advancements and innovation, deliver Apple Pay and prepare for Chip & Pin/EMV readiness ahead of the industry deadline, demonstrates our commitment to the next generation of retailing and delivering innovation to our continuing expanding client base,” the CEO said.

The KWI Cloud 9 Mobile platform is now available on Apple iPads and iPod Touch, the company said.

KWI announced its support of Apple Pay at the 2015 National Retail Federation Annual Conference, where it demonstrated the new technology.
