eBay Names New CMO

The PayPal split is over and done, and life is going on at eBay with a high-profile new hire.

The eCommerce firm has snagged Suzy Deering, former CEO of digital advertising agency Moxie, to fill the roll of marketing officer of North America.

“EBay is redefining itself with a more aggressive focus on retailing,” the company said in a statement. “As CMO, Suzy will help connect eBay’s customers to the things they love and need, and she’ll bring innovation, a strategic marketing perspective and passionate voice to eBay’s online and offline marketing programs.”

Deering has a long career in retail. Before heading the ship at Moxie, she was the VP of advertising for Home Depot and a marketing leader at Verizon, who was instrumental to the brand reshaping efforts that went into the firm’s migration to mobile.

Deering steps in for Richelle Parham, who held the CMO role through February 2015. Parham left eBay as part of the restructuring that placed the communications and brand teams under the purview of the chief communications officer.

Deering will be responsible for North American marketing for eBay’s marketplace and will report to eBay’s senior VP of North America, Hal Lawton.
