Polyvore And IFTTT First On Pinterest’s Developer Platform

Pinterest has announced that IFTTT, a Web-based conditional platform, and Polyvore, a fashion site, will be the first to tap into the developer platform which the company announced in May. The new API is intended to help developer build apps that will “bring Pins to life.”

On the IFTTT platform, using the new API will allow anyone with a Pinterest account to connect said account to hundreds of devices and products through the Pinterest channel. That will allow users to save Pins to boards with a specific action associated with it like upvoting a Reddit post or favoring an Etsy item.

On Polyvore, the API will allow users to save favorite items — including collections, fashion and home decor listings — directly to Pinterest.

Why are these two sites the earliest of early adopters? Well, it seems they are already popular with the Pinterest crowd. According to VentureBeat, shares to Pinterest boards have reportedly increased by as much as 132 percent with Polyvore’s integration and there are already more than 20 Pinterest recipes on IFTTT that are now available.

These are the first two users, but, of course, they won’t be the last. Pinterest has confirmed they will be rolling out their app integration with various other partners starting today.
