Billtrust’s New SME Invoice Chief

As a B2B cash flow management service provider, Billtrust knows invoices. The company operates to help other businesses manage their invoice cycles — from invoice receipt to payment.

This week, Billtrust announced that it has brought on a new executive to expand the company’s invoice expertise. The company released the news Wednesday (Aug. 26) that Paul Harrison will come onto the team as the General Manager of Invoice Central, the Billtrust unit that provides bill and payment consolidation services for SMEs.

The Software-as-a-Service tool provides e-billing and payment support for SMEs by streamlining invoice delivery to companies, regardless of format – be it paper or electronic. Companies can view and pay these bills on a single platform online. For suppliers, Invoice Central allows them to migrate to digital invoice and billing to automate their Accounts Receivable operations, the company said.

According to Billtrust, Harrison will head Invoice Central’s day-to-day operations and growth strategy. He will report directly to Flint Lane, Billtrust’s founder and CEO.

In a statement, Lane said he is “thrilled” to have Harrison join the company. “His deep expertise in the payments space combined with his strong entrepreneurial spirit make him the ideal candidate to lead Invoice Central to further growth and success,” he said.

Before Billtrust, Harrison served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Fiserv unit CheckFreePay. Reports said he has more than three decades of experience in strategic corporate direction and business growth.

Harrison said that his entrance into Billtrust is a “unique opportunity.”

“Billtrust and its Invoice Central network are poised to disrupt the B2B billing and payment space,” he said in a statement.

Earlier this year Billtrust announced a $25 million investment round led by Goldman Sachs Private Capital Investing and Bain Capital Ventures. The company said at the time that the funds would be used to fuel strategic growth, and hinted at new acquisitions in the near future.
