Volvo Teams With Payer For Service And Repair B2B Optimization

B2B payments

Volvo Financial Services (VFS), the captive financing arm of Volvo Group, has announced that Payer will help it optimize payments and improve the customer experience for auto service and repairs, a press release says.

Payer works in payments technology.

The release notes that the increasing globalization of the world has posed challenges for the international transport community. VFS says the challenges come in the way of the workshops charging long-haul companies for repairs in foreign countries when the driver is the sole representative there.

The release says both workshops and haulers share a common interest in easy, safe payment flows to help facilitate quality repairs.

The deal between VFS and Payer will entail the leveraging of Payer’s platform to digitize B2B payments for service and repairs.

The release says the service will be tailored to Volvo’s specific needs and will send a mobile notification to the manager at a haulage company about the service order, enabling the manager to pay it directly. After that, the payment is done in real time, which helps to simplify back-office processes as well, in VFS’s ERP system in SAP.

The service will boost transparency and capabilities for digital payments, with better communication, reservations and payment captures.

The solution is currently live in Norway and Spain, according to the release.

Peder Berge, CEO and founder of Payer, said the company was glad to be involved in a partnership with Volvo.

“Ultimately, we’re two technology companies rooted in engineering,” he said, according to the release. “Their engines offer safe ways to travel and our engines offer secure payments for B2B. I’m impressed by the innovation level at Volvo Financial Services and their financial services technology vision. I think it’s a great fit.”

Markus Jansson, chief product officer at Sweden-based Payer, spoke with PYMNTS recently about onboarding optimization. He said the processes have to be accurate in telling whether a buyer is safe to do business with, but also seamless so that it can be done as easily as possible so that payments come easily in the B2B experience.
