Shipt Adds Same-Day Delivery in More Locations as Part of US Expansion

Shipt on Thursday (Sept. 9) announced it’s adding same-day delivery service to more of its stores as part of its largest expansion in three years, a move that will help the personal shopper and same-day delivery service reach millions of potential new customers.

Shipt customers can now get same-day delivery at more than 1,000 additional neighborhood retail shops. The company’s expansion adds more than 2 million more households who used to be just outside its coverage area.

“This is the first time Shipt has expanded this way,” Shipt Chief Operating Officer Bridget Fruit said in the company announcement. “Over the years, Shipt has launched one city at a time or rolled out a new retail partner nationwide, but this exciting coast to coast expansion is unlike anything we’ve done before.”

The expansion means Shipt is now available at more than 200 additional CVS locations and 50 extra GNC stores. The service is available in more than 5,000 cities and towns across the U.S. Almost 40 of Shipt’s partners will have access to new customers thanks to the expansion.

“This expansion recognizes the importance of same-day delivery in people’s lives,” said Fruit in the Shipt announcement. “We’re growing strategically and intentionally with a commitment to provide our customers with even more places to shop, retailers with the opportunity to reach new customers and Shipt Shoppers with even more flexible earning potential than ever before.”

In July, Shipt announced that it has partnered with housing developer Continental Properties to offer free Shipt memberships to residents at nearly 60 of Continental’s properties across the country, including Springs Apartments in Colorado, Texas, Florida and Illinois, who will get unlimited free delivery during their leases.

The deal allows Spring Apartments residents to shop online, schedule a delivery time and pay for their order within the app. A Shipt shopper will then deliver groceries to their door in as little as one hour.
