Mobile banking platform N26 has joined forces with cash-back app Dosh to allow users to earn money on everyday purchases with their N26 debit card.

N26 announced the new partnership Tuesday (March 9), calling it an expanded version of the bank’s “Perks” program, launched in November 2019. Customers can use this program to get cash back on purchases from nationwide retailers and local businesses alike.

The new program adds money directly to customer accounts without requiring them to activate offers, calculate points systems or struggle with limits on how they can use rewards. Customers are enrolled automatically and receive cash-back awards after making purchases from participating vendors every 15 days.

“The goal of our Perks program has always been to help customers save when spending with their debit card on brands they love,” N26 Chief Growth Officer Alexander Weber said in a news release. “This is now more important than ever with the impact of the recent pandemic putting financial strain on millions of Americans.”

The pandemic has left many customers searching for digital banking solutions like the one offered by N26, a Germany-based digital bank that launched in 2015.

As PYMNTS reported last year, the number of consumers who prefer internet banking grew from 49 percent before the COVID-19 outbreak to 57 percent in June 2020.

For N26, that means needing to provide a seamless service through cloud-based banking, as Director of Product Lindsey Grossman said in an interview last year.

“Banking in the cloud provides a number of benefits,” Grossman said. “No. 1, it allows us to provide the best service to our customers by scaling in a flexible manner so that we can react almost instantly to traffic changes and maintain high availability. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to complete payments or trying to buy something, and if things time out, you just lose credibility.”

The move comes following N26’s rollout last year of a subscription-based digital banking suite designed to help individual and business customers manage their savings and spending.

This program included Shared Spaces functionality, letting customers save with up to 10 other people. It also offers five no-charge ATM withdrawals every month.
