Seafood Delivery Service Expands After Hooking Shark Tank Funding

Premium seafood meal kit delivery service Fish Fixe is expanding operations following funding from ABC’s Shark Tank star Lori Greiner, according to a press release emailed to PYMNTS on Monday (Nov. 15).

Launched in 2017 in Houston, Texas by Melissa Harrington and Emily Castro, Fish Fixe aims to make it easier to buy and prepare seafood dishes. The duo started freezing vacuum-sealed individually portioned seafood for family and friends and received such positive feedback, they launched a company to bring the same service to more people.

“When we started Fish Fixe, we knew we weren’t alone in finding that purchasing and cooking seafood had its inconveniences. The pandemic further validated that Fish Fixe could solve the problem for busy people looking to eat nutritiously and put dinner on the table fast,” said Harringon, co-founder and CEO.

Harringon added that it was the “ultimate stamp of approval” to land the Shark Tank deal and Greiner’s backing so they can “start this next chapter of Fish Fixe.”

The fresh capital will initially be used to decentralize distribution to allow for more efficient service to customers on the East and West coasts. The company also plans to change its packaging to be 100 percent curbside recyclable. Also in the works are plans to provide customers with more recipes, cooking demonstrations, extended partnerships and more.

Greiner said the Fish Fixe founders are “fantastic entrepreneurs” and the seafood delivered to her door was “some of the best I’ve ever enjoyed” as well as “fresh and wonderful.”

The fish is “frozen at the peak of freshness” and perfectly portioned into individual servings and delivered to customers’ homes.
