Noting that paying is only one part of the shopping experience, payments options provider Klarna has added five new shopping-oriented features to the Klarna App and website.
The new additions for shoppers include a price comparison tool, shoppable video content, a donation feature and an upgraded CO2e tracker. Also new is a platform that connects creators and retailers, Klarna said Wednesday (Oct. 19) in a press release.
“The new products revealed today mark a major milestone in Klarna’s evolution to becoming a place where consumers and retailers can now search, discover and create,” Klarna Co-Founder and CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski said in the release. “From inspiring product discovery all the way to delivery tracking, digital receipts and seamless returns — we are powering eCommerce and accelerating trade across the world.”
The new search tool compares prices across thousands of retailers and enables shoppers to filter the results by color, size, feature, customer rating, store availability and shipping options. Plus, at checkout, it searches for and applies any available coupons, according to the release.
The “Watch and shop” shoppable video content in the Klarna App includes unboxings, tutorials and reviews. When viewers see an item they like, they can shop it directly from the video, the release stated.
A Donations feature highlights vetted nonprofit organizations to which consumers can donate. It also displays the volume of donations and allows consumers to learn more about the groups they’ve supported, according to the release.
The upgraded CO2e tracker gives shoppers insights into the environmental impact of their purchases by displaying the carbon footprint they generate.
The Creator Platform connects creators of shoppable videos and social media content and retailers. It handles activities like the initial outreach, partnerships and tracking sales and commissions, per the release.
PYMNTS research has found that coupons, promotional codes and free shipping are among the shopping features that are most wanted by consumers.

To best serve shoppers, merchants should also offer product recommendations, price matching and buy now, pay later (BNPL) options, according to “The 2022 Global Digital Shopping Playbook,” a PYMNTS and Cybersource collaboration.
