Financial technology service provider WEX Inc. has announced plans to expand a relationship with electronic vehicle (EV) charging network ChargePoint in order to provide more seamless integration for mixed fleets, a press release says.

The expanded partnership will increase access to the largest public EV charging network, which provides on-route charging needs.

It will also come with ‘depot’ and ‘at-home’ charging, with the means to boost employee reimbursement.

With the new partnership, the companies plan to offer a “robust end-to-end solution,” which will aid mixed fleets in offering various kinds of charging, in the hopes of streamlining enrollment and centralized reporting and billing, along with real-time energy data.

The companies plan to offer charging stations at workplace facilities and ways to integrate them into fleet operations or private solutions.

Scott Phillips, president of global fleet at WEX, said the partnership expects “to position both companies to serve our customers’ full range of needs over the long-term, as more businesses evolve their fleets in efforts to address climate change.

“As a leader in the commercial fleet industry for nearly four decades, our customers across the globe rely on us to provide financial controls, powerful reporting, data solutions, and secure payments that keep their drivers on the road and on the job, while managing costs,” Phillips said. “WEX believes that partnering with ChargePoint will enable WEX to fully support any mix of EV and ICE vehicles that our customers operate.”

WEX has also recently debuted pay cards so customers will be able to transfer money any time, in real time.

The company said the goal is to solve problems faced by all businesses.

Erin Knight, vice president of product and innovation at WEX, said another objective of the card is to solve issues with payroll and help in attracting and retaining employees.
