Nuvei Helps Swedish Sportsbook Betsson Launch in US

Payments platform Nuvei has joined forces with Swedish gaming company Betsson Group to help it bring its online sportsbook to the U.S.

According to a Friday (May 20) news release, Betsson has set up a shop in Colorado, operating under Betsafe. Nuvei will use its instant bank transfer tool to let players automatically deposit their gaming accounts directly from their bank accounts.

“Players will also benefit from instant withdrawals, which enable them to receive their winnings straight into their bank account in real-time, 24/7,” the release said.

The companies say Nuvei also tokenizes players’ financial details when a first transaction is completed, so players can deposit or request a payout through a ‘single click’ payment method.

With the partnership, Betsson joins a growing list of betting companies who have tapped Nuvei for their payment needs.

Earlier this week, the London-based company announced it had teamed with Hard Rock Digital to offer payments services for its Hard Rock Sportsbook mobile app for players in Arizona, Virginia and other states still set to launch betting services.

With this partnership, players will be able to instantly deposit funds to and from their gaming wallet to their bank account in real-time using Nuvei’s instant bank transfer, thanks to Nuvei’s integration with The Clearing House’s real-time payments (RTP) network.

And in April, the company announced it was expanding its partnership with European betting firm and online casino Novibet, allowing players to deposit with Apple Pay.

“Apple Pay’s convenient checkout user experience makes it an attractive deposit option, in particular for returning players that want to upload funds through the quickest possible method,” Novibet said.

“Instant, convenient deposits and real-time payouts are absolutely essential to meet U.S. players’ demands of their sports betting platforms,” said Philip Fayer, Nuvei’s chair and CEO. “Already in 2022 we have partnered with some of the most significant operators in the exciting U.S. gaming landscape as it develops at pace, and Betsson certainly falls into that category.”
