Stripe Brings Its Terminal to Singapore

Financial infrastructure platform Stripe announced Thursday (June 2) that its Stripe Terminal is now available for businesses in Singapore.

“While selling online has become easier, extending sales to in-person meant stitching together point-of-sale hardware and software, managing burdensome security and certification processes, as well as complying with changing regulatory and hardware requirements,” the company said in a news release.

Stripe’s Terminal, which has been available in the U.S. since 2019, helps businesses juggle all those issues. According to Stripe, the tool is made up of three components, starting with a pair of SDKs and APIs that offer a “fully custom” checkout via the web or mobile apps, “allowing for a single integration to power payments globally.”

Secondly, the company said pre-certified card readers can also work with Mastercard and Visa contact/contactless cards, along with mobile wallets like Apple Pay and Google Pay.

Lastly, the terminal provides fleet management features that let clients oversee hardware at scale across multiple locations or through connected accounts.

“With the digital economy booming and customers returning to stores post-pandemic, it’s crucial for platforms and businesses to stay ahead of the curve and reimagine how they can better integrate their virtual and in-person experiences for their customers,” said Sarita Singh, head of revenue and growth for Southeast Asia at Stripe.

“Stripe Terminal will help businesses streamline payment flows and provide a holistic view of their customer. By introducing Stripe Terminal and other recently launched services such as Stripe Tax in Singapore, Stripe wants to equip businesses with the right kind of tools to unlock the kind of growth that is as dynamic and ambitious as they are,” Singh said.

Stripe said Terminal works with other tools offered on the Stripe platform, including Payments, Connect and Billing.
